Physical Education at Choice IB

At The Choice School IB, Physical Education is an essential part of the curriculum from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) through the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and beyond. Rooted in the IB philosophy, our PE program nurtures physical literacy, well-being, and a lifelong commitment to a healthy and active lifestyle. Through a dynamic and inquiry-based approach, students develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to make informed choices about their health and well-being.

PE Across the IB Continuum

  • PYP: In the Primary Years Programme; Personal, Social and Physical Education (PSPE) focuses on fundamental movement skills, coordination and teamwork. Learners engage in a variety of physical activities that promote motor skills, spatial awareness and cooperation. The emphasis is on exploration, enjoyment and the development of positive attitudes toward physical activity.
  • MYP 1 to MYP 3: Physical and Health Education (PHE) is a required subject, where learners explore diverse sports, movement forms and fitness concepts. They develop an understanding of the connections between physical activity, health and overall well-being. Through structured lessons and reflective practices, students enhance their motor skills, strategic thinking and personal fitness.
  • MYP 4 and MYP 5: PHE becomes an optional subject, allowing learners to further specialize in areas of interest such as sports science, biomechanics, or athletic performance. Those who opt out of PHE continue to engage in structured fitness and well-being programs to maintain an active lifestyle.
  • DP: While Sports, Exercise and Health Science (SEHS) is not a core subject in the Diploma Programme, fitness and wellness remain integral to student life. A range of activities including fitness training, yoga, team sports and individualized fitness plans are offered to support students’ physical and mental well-being alongside their academic journey.

At Choice IB, we are committed to providing a holistic education where sports and fitness play a crucial role in shaping confident, self-aware, and health-conscious individuals.
